Your Instructor
Meet Iain
My name is Iain Smith and I specialise in the dark arts of personal effectiveness in the workplace.
I am a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE from the University of Cambridge (Homerton College) as well as a BA (Hons) in English. I hold a number of coaching diplomas, including Coaching Within Education and Personal Performance Coaching, from The Coaching Academy, the world's leading coaching training provider. I am also a fully qualified NLP Practitioner.
As a secondary English teacher I've taught in a village school in rural Tanzania, a prestigious state school in Istanbul, Leeds Metropolitan University and a handful of secondary schools across the South East of England.
As a coach and trainer I've spent the last decade working with senior leaders and whole school staff, focusing on giving them the skills they need in order to be the best they can be. Teachers know how to teach; I help teachers to effectively deal with all the other detritus that the job brings.
Learning the so called soft skills about how to manage time, communicate, deal with pressure has had a wonderful impact on my life. Sharing these skills with my clients, teachers like you, has had a far reaching impact. It has been a pleasure and privilege to know that many teachers I've worked with have stayed on and continued in a job that, although they loved, they thought they were going to have to leave due to the pressures.
I am married to a wonderful woman from the south of England and we live in the UK with our two adolescent daughters, both of whom kindly test my strategies for communication and dealing with pressure on a regular basis.
My wife is an infant school teacher in charge of Early Years. My sister is a Year 6 teacher. Many of my friends are secondary school teachers. I work day to day coaching and training teachers from Infant, Primary, Secondary, Colleges and PRUs. I support teachers from private and state organisations, religious and secular. I suppose I'm letting you know that I understand what schools are about.
I know that the content in these courses I invite you to enroll in has unlocked doors for many teachers and I anticipate that learning the skills within will open new doors for you too. Welcome.
